NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
This post is split between our core CAMHS team and providing dedicated services to young people struggling with drug and alcohol use with associated mental health difficulties. This will provide an exciting and varied role with opportunities to be involved in multi-agency service development for this vulnerable group, working within a trauma informed and relationally focussed framework, and supporting others to also view substance use through this lens. This will include: multi agency working; opportunities for training, both delivering and receiving; consultation; supervision to colleagues; complex formulations with teams; supporting risk assessment and risk management. The skills required within the two parts of the role are complimentary and support the interface across the service and increases awareness of the impact of substance use on young people across the wider team.
Whilst we have many different specialties within our team, we have the advantage of all being located in The Phoenix Centre, next to Raigmore Hospital, providing opportunity for both support and learning from MD colleagues across the service. You will be well supported by senior colleagues, including a dedicated Principal Clinical Psychologist for the CAMHS drug and alcohol service.
We are interested in learning about what you are passionate about, we want to benefit from your skill set, but also see you grow and develop in your role. We are supportive of CPD and ensuring we know your training needs identified through your personal appraisal and offering opportunities for post qualification training in specific therapeutic modalities.
The Highlands are a playground for those loving the outdoors. If you are not active coming here, you run the risk of becoming that way! There is stunning geography for you to explore but also urban amenities like Eden Court Theatre, restaurants, bars and shops in Inverness. If you enjoy (or see the benefit even!) of loch swimming, there are opportunities to go after work with the hardier members of our team.
If you are interested in making the move to Inverness and would like to talk to members of our team who have done this do let us know and we can set up a conversation for you to find out more. We will have additional posts at 8a grade coming out to advert soon, so if this post is not the right fit for you, please get in touch.
A full current driving licence and use of own car for work purposes is essential.
Part-time hours may be considered.
Informal enquiries can be directed to Dr Lindsay Chalton, Interim Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Lindsay.chalton@nhs.scot) or Dr Stephanie Bannon, Principal Clinical Psychologist (Stephanie.bannon@nhs.scot) on 01463 705597.
