Practice Education Facilitator (PEF)

Band 6 (22.5 hrs), Medicine and Unscheduled Care (MUSC) Portfolio


This is an exciting opportunity to join the Practice Education & Development Team as a PEF (Band 6) within the MUSC Portfolio. We are looking for nurses with extensive experience at Band 5 and above in posts which included supporting, supervising and assessing learners. You should possess a strong passion for developing others and providing quality person-centred care. You will be supported with opportunities to develop yourself as an educator in a welcoming team committed to education and development, whilst developing and maintaining a positive learning environment.

In this role you will provide specialist support to Healthcare Practitioners, pre-registration/post-registration learners and Healthcare Support Workers in driving the provision of education, training and clinical support. You will be instrumental in providing clinical skills training and facilitating the development of staff to become competent and capable through teaching, facilitating, supervising, coaching and supporting in both the classroom and within clinical practice.

This role requires strong collaborative working relationships with Higher and Further Education Institutes and NHS Education for Scotland (NES), and will require leadership skills as well as professional and clinical credibility.

Applicants will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and,

  • Be educated to degree level, with good awareness of current educational priorities in relation to the MUSC Portfolio
  • Be a current Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor

The applicant will be required to work closely with, and be supported by, the senior Practice Education & Development Team.
