To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

The cool2talk service is a website for young people aged 12-24 covering Tayside where site users can have their health & wellbeing related questions answered within 24 hours.  The site offers reassurance, encouragement, information and advice on any health related issue.  The service also offers signposting to appropriate local or national services and specific information on related topics.

We are looking to recruit a Health Development Worker to the cool2talk team. The role includes responding to young people on the cool2talk website and to network, promote and develop the cool2talk service in Tayside with a focus in Perth & Kinross. The post holder will be home-based and will be required to travel to promote the service, consult & collaborate with young people and attend meetings and events across Tayside. The post will also involve delivery of training / information on related topics to professionals. There will be scope to support other related work with young people. This post requires flexible working and weekend work on a rota basis of 2-4 days per week. This may increase when other team members are on annual leave.

The cool2talk service has a three year service level agreement (up to April 2024) with NHS Western Isles to respond to questions from young people in this board area, and an additional hour per week is provided for this.

We require the post holder to have a first degree and/or professional qualification in health promotion, community education, counselling or social work (or equivalent experience), and hold a post graduate diploma level qualification in relevant topic (or experience to this level).  You will also have a proven competence in collaborating with, and offering support and information to young people focusing on health and wellbeing issues.

You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
