The Role
Operation FLOW is a new program focused on improving the system across the full patient pathway from avoiding hospital admission through to discharge and beyond.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Clerk to join the Medical & Care of the Elderly Team based at University Hospital Hairmyres.
The role of Ward Clerk is to provide a comprehensive administrative service to the medical and nursing teams within the ward
environment, including supporting the ward team and admin tasks associated with discharge of patients.
We have various roles across Medical & COTE wards with flexible working patterns available.

What we'll need you to bring
- Good basic education
- Minimum of two years administrative experience desirable
- Basic understanding of office procedures
- Proficient in use of Software systems
- Good organisational and communication skills
It would be great if you also have
- Educated to Standard Grade
- Experience of Trakcare Patient Management System
- Knowledge of patient management system
Contract type
Fixed Term or Secondment for 9 months / Full time & Part Time / Various hours available
For part time posts the salary will be pro-rata.
Please note this is a fixed term for 9 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Working Pattern
The working pattern for this role is:
- 30 hours - Mon-Fri / 4pm-10pm
- 20 hours - Mon-Fri / 2pm - 6pm
- 37.5 hours - Relief post / Flexible
