Fixed term – from 7th February 2024 until 6th August 2024

Salary Scale: £40,995 - £64,461

We welcome applications from enthusiastic individuals for our Locum Appointment for Training post at ST3+ to support the Paediatrics department, based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert, the state of the art modern Acute Hospital.

This post is available until 6th August 2024.

The post offers experience in Neonatology and General Paediatrics, which would include responsibility for assessment and treatment at middle grade level in acute paediatric inpatients, Neonatal intensive care (BAPM Level 2), and in our short stay assessment area. The posts will also allow for exposure to patients managed in outpatient settings in general Paediatric clinics as well as by our subspecialty teams, which includes Neonatology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Cystic Fibrosis, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Epilepsy and Neurodisability.

This appointment aims to support the delivery of our acute hospital-based Children’s medical services on Tier 2 middle grade rota (currently 1:8), with roster in acute hospital Paediatrics, Neonates and Paediatric Outpatients. There is also dedicated time scheduled for training, teaching, clinical audit and quality improvement activities.

You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues.  Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The direct clinical activity will be dedicated to complement Tier 2 rota in acute Paediatrics and Neonates in hours and out of hours

The successful applicant will have access to RCPCH portfolio. They will have support from Clinical and Educational supervisor and shall be subject to regular Annual Review of Competence Progression process (ARCP) similarly to a Speciality trainee in Paediatrics. If appointed to Paediatric Speciality Training Programme through open competition, documented competences achieved through a Locum Appointment for Training can count towards CCT.
