Applications are invited for a Band 5 Healthcare Scientist Practitioner post in the Aberdeen Medical Genetics Laboratory. The Aberdeen laboratory is part of the Scottish Genetics Consortium funded by the National Services Division to provide Genetic and Molecular Pathology diagnostic testing in Scotland.
This post is temporary for 11 months.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants should have an Honours Degree in a Biological Science discipline, and laboratory experience in relevant laboratory techniques such as PCR, MLPA and DNA sequencing (NGS and Sanger).
The person appointed will be a member of the Aberdeen Genetics diagnostic laboratory technical team and will be responsible for a range of technical aspects of mutation screening/detection, in inherited and sporadic disorders. In addition to general laboratory work, the successful candidate may be expected to carry out preliminary data analysis and reporting.
There will be considerable interaction with clinicians and scientists as well as technical colleagues in Aberdeen and other Consortium centres in Scotland.
