Domestic Services deliver cleaning services across Dundee Locality sites. The Department employs approximately 480 staff comprising of team leaders, supervisors and domestic assistants.


The post has overall management responsibility for the Domestic Services Department, which delivers comprehensive 24 hour cleaning and housekeeping services to all Hospitals, Health Centres and sites throughout Dundee Locality.  The post plays a key role in achieving a quality, efficient and cost effective cleaning service by ensuring the day to day management of all aspects of workforce planning, business systems, quality monitoring and NHS Tayside policies.


As professional Lead for NHS Tayside Domestic Services this post provides leadership and support for Domestic Services throughout NHS Tayside ensuring that services are developed to achieve local and national NHS initiatives and directives, best practice standards, value for money and where applicable legal requirements.


We are seeking a highly experienced manager (with extensive experience) of facilities management with proven ability in managing a large and diverse workforce and delivering a range of services to a large clientele. The candidate must possess a professional qualification to HND/HCIMA or equivalent or undergraduate degree in Institutional Management, Hotel Services Management, Facilities or equivalent level of knowledge in the service sector. The ability to demonstrate comprehensive professional knowledge of cleaning science and services is essential as the role also serves as an advisor on these matters. The successful candidate must possess highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to provide inspirational leadership to domestic services staff and managerial colleagues. Strong motivational skills are essential as is the ability to support change whilst maintaining positive working relationships with staff and colleagues. A self starter who driven to provide a high quality service, the successful person will maintain a professional and flexible approach. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, innovative and proactive and must also be able to respond constructively to unpredictable situations and cope well under pressure.
