Marie Curie is implementing a new virtual ward service in Midlothian to help ensure patients that wish to remain at home are supported by an MDT which will include review, assessment, and visits to the patient. This is an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to help implement and develop this new service and shape the future of palliative care within the region.

Title: Band 5 Registered Nurse
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC BAND 5 £30,229 - £37,664 per annum plus enhancements.
Hours/Contract: 37.5 hours per week. Part time hours may be considered.
Contract Type: Permanent
Based: Marie Curie Edinburgh and Lothian

Marie Curie recognises the potential to reach an additional c.2500 patients by expanding its offering to include virtual ward/hospice services with a focus especially in England and Soctland. Evidence suggests that in areas where virtual services have been deployed, clinal capacity can increase by up to double and patient readmissions could be reduced by 30%
Successful applicants will assist in developing and implementing the virtual ward, providing a responsive palliative care service to patients with acute needs with the aim to provide an alternative to hospital/hospice admissions.

What we are looking for:
- Experience of working in a palliative/end of life care setting
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Computer literacy and organisational skills
- Level 1 Registration and able to demonstrate continued professional development.
- Person centred with the ability to undertake holistic assessments.
- Licence allowing you to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle that can be insured for business use is essential.
As a Registered nurse you will provide support and assessment to patients with complex palliative care needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team but should also be able to work off your own initiative. You will be required to communicate with patients, and the people important to them, on the plans of care and provide daily updates on any changes and plan of care for that day.
