Secondment/Fixed Term for 1 year to cover substantive post holder’s maternity leave.

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced nurses who will embrace the challenge of this dynamic role. The post holder will possess sound knowledge of the complex frail patient thus ensuring their effective management and treatment. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams.  All applicants should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, work across professional boundaries and be flexible in an extremely busy environment. You must be able to demonstrate good organisational skills, excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuing professional development.

Responsibilities of the role include supporting ward rounds, requesting investigations, following up management plans, linking with the multidisciplinary team to make multi-professional referrals or escalate care, recording clear concise records in accordance with the NMC guidelines including electronic discharge letters.

You must be capable of using I.T systems such as SCI Store, PACS, EDMS, ECS & e-ward.

This post will be based in the Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Emergency & Inpatient Services, Acute Services Directorate supporting Ward A22. Shift pattern is Mon- Fri.

An NMC prescribing qualification and advanced clinical examination (ACE) course are desirable and preference will be given to candidates who have completed these academic courses. The successful candidate will be expected to attain any additional qualifications within the first 12-18 months of employment and therefore must be able to undertake degree level academic work.

Although this is NOT an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in training post it is an ideal opportunity for registered nurses keen to develop and gain the experience required to progress their career towards advanced practice in acute care.
