Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (CRF) incorporates Clinical Research Facilities at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital the Glasgow Royal Infirmary/Gartnavel General Hospital and the Paediatric Clinical Research Facility at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Jointly they provide a streamlined service to investigators to conduct their clinical research efficiently and safely. We are recruiting an innovative and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Research Nurse to assist us in providing high quality nursing care for patients and volunteers participating in Clinical Research.  You will be working within the  Clinical  Research  Facility.    The  applicant should be a Registered Nurse.  This is a fixed term post.

 

You will be trained and supported to coordinate the recruitment, education, monitoring and follow-up of research participants and the collection and documentation of accurate data. You will work collaboratively with Principal and Chief Investigators and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the management of your own caseload of research patients. It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with relevant clinical experience and educated to (or working towards) degree level. Research experience is highly desirable although transferable skills can be demonstrated. You will work to research principles, including confidentiality, randomisation procedures, informed consent and ethical issues, and have an understanding of research within the context of the Research Governance Framework and Good Clinical Practice. Attention to detail, strong organisational and communication skills, good IT skills and a methodical approach are key requirements, along with a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. The hours of work are predominantly 8.30am-4.30pm but you will be required to take a flexible approach in order to meet the needs of the research studies, with a requirement to work unsocial hours and weekends as necessary. The ability to regularly travel between all sites within NHS GGC is also essential.  You should have the ability to demonstrate competencies in relation to experience with evidence of highly developed clinical and technical skills and experience working in both academic and commercial research is desirable .You should have experience demonstrating the post holders ability to lead a clinical research trial or   comparable project e.g. audit or clinical effectiveness, including the management of staff and resources and evidence of continuing personal and professional development, educated to degree level (or working towards). You should have knowledge of current research regulations and governance requirements and experience  of  working  effectively  in  a  multi-disciplinary  team   with  key responsibilities within the team.  You should have excellent organisational and time management skills/ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload across different clinical areas and clinical trials to meet project timelines and the ability to learn new skills to meet the requirements of new research projects.  You should have the ability to use IT systems proficiently including   Microsoft Office , electronic patient management systems and web-based technologies.  You should have evidence of highly developed current clinical and technical skills in the clinical setting.  The shift pattern for this post is 8.30am - 4.30pm weekdays (flexible).
