Job Advert

NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We

are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching

Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities

and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing

a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide

regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

We aim to improve public health, maximise outcomes for patient experience, clinical

effectiveness and to continue to transform the way we do things, building on the

success of our approach to quality management.

We want to attract the best talent. Someone who acts with integrity and embraces

collective and compassionate leadership.

Ideally you will be an experienced Chief Executive or have worked at a similar level in

a large, complex healthcare system. You will be attuned to the demands of regulation

and public scrutiny.

You will understand how integrated health and care systems operate, but more

importantly, how the different facets of the system interrelate so innovation,

improvement and integration occur naturally. You will be recognised by your peers

for your innately collaborative leadership style and natural ability to build trust.

These important qualities will be combined with innovative strategic vision

and courage to act decisively to deliver on the Board’s operational plan and

transformation programme.

For an informal discussion, please contact elaine.watters@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk.

You must submit a CV with a supporting statement outlining the experience and leadership

competencies you will bring to the role. These should be returned to:

Director of HR and OD

Email: janis.butler@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

Please note that short listed candidates will be required to undertake on-line psychometric assessment before

interview and to participate in an assessment process the day before interviews.

There will be testing of candidate competence at interview and candidates will also be invited

to present on a specific topic.
