Specialist Medical Physics Technologist (Renal)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Clinical Technologist within the Medical Equipment Management Team, at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, to support the delivery of a medical equipment management service.

The postholder will help provide medical equipment management services to a range of NHS and other customers, supporting the clinical use of a range of highly specialist medical equipment in areas including critical care units, dialysis units, general wards, and community sites. This includes fault‑finding, repairing breakdowns, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, safety checks, assisting with the investigation of medical equipment related incidents and problem solving in the clinical environment.

You will have a degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, and experience of working within an electronic servicing role. Experience of working on renal dialysis equipment is an advantage.

We are looking for applicants who are self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team to ensure the day-to-day running of the service. Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is a flexible and methodical approach to the required tasks. This post also involves travelling and working at various hospitals and community patient`s homes located in Lothian, Fife and Borders.

You will also be required to participate in our on-call service and have a full UK driving licence.

The Medical Equipment Management service has a track record of developing staff to enhance career opportunities. With a clear focus on quality and patient services, you will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team providing an equipment management service for a wide range of medical equipment. You will work across many clinical specialities, supporting the delivery of world class healthcare at four acute hospital sites and within the local healthcare community.
