An opportunity has arisen through Macmillan funding for an additional Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join the Hospital Palliative Care Team based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a registered nurse who has acquired additional specialist knowledge and experience. You will have the expert skills and competencies required to manage a caseload within agreed boundaries and protocols in line with clinical governance. Entwined around this clinical core are ties of consultancy, teaching, management and research and its application. You will be an expert clinical practitioner providing comprehensive care, education and support within specialty to patients, carers and staff. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a quality improvement project to improve palliative and end of life care for patients in hospital. The minimum requirement include being a Registered Nurse with significant post registration experience, relevant experience in a senior nursing role in the specialty at a Band 5 and that you hold or are working towards an appropriate post registration level qualification in palliative care. As appropriate to area of clinical practice, successfully complete the agreed training pathway and clinical competencies required to fulfill the CNS role. The shift pattern of this post will be worked Monday to Friday.
This post is fixed term for 2 years.
