This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post. 

The posts are located in the Midlothian and West Lothian CAMHS Outpatient teams in the first instance. 

  • West Lothian – St Johns Hospital Livingston
  • Midlothian – Eastfield Medical Centre, Penicuik

The teams deliver a Tier 3 CAMHS service to children and young people (up to 18th birthday).

The post holders will work within a multi disciplinary team but alongside other Occupational Therapists.  There is an Occupational therapy Team leader within both teams who will provide leadership, line management and support.  

The post holders will deliver a range of individual and group interventions utilising Occupational Therapy and generic core CAMHS mental health assessment and treatment skills.

It is expected that the successful applicants will have experience working in CAMHS or can demonstrate the ability to transfer existing skills and experience to this field.  Training and supervision will be provided to enable successful applicants to develop their skills in this specialist area. 

CAMH services are changing to meet increasing referrals and changing needs and the post holder can expect to be part of developments and continuous improvement.

Applications are invited from experienced Occupational therapists wishing to work with children and young people in a busy service who have excellent assessment, care planning and communication skills.
