Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The core function of the NMAHP Directorate is to support the education, training and continuous professional development of nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, health and social care chaplains and their support workers. It supports the delivery of NES’s strategic plan and works in response to commissions from the Scottish Government, Territorial and National Boards and a range of stakeholders to develop Workforce Education.

Our work and partnerships support practitioners working in Health and Social Care to develop throughout their careers and with high quality accessible resources to support their ongoing professional development.

The Workforce, Education and Career Development Programme sits within the NMAHP Directorate and works collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners. The programme is commissioned to develop and deliver education and career pathways for all levels of practice, developing education frameworks and resources to support the NMAHP workforce across the 4 pillars of practice. Our resources support practitioners, educators and managers across all career levels; transforming roles, advancing practice and supporting workforce planning.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to help deliver on the aims and objectives of a commissioned project to support Transforming AHP Roles - Advancing Practice. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join our dynamic team to build effective relationships with key stakeholders to support the development of AHPs working at advanced levels of practice.

Working as a Specialist Lead within the NMAHP Workforce, Education and Career Development Programme, you will have the opportunity to work in partnership with the AHP community working in Health and Social Care to develop a vision for the development of AHP Advanced Practice roles in Scotland.

Do you enjoy collaborating with a wide range of partners at all levels, communicating a shared vision and sense of purpose?

Do you enjoy working at pace and being creative and adaptive within the ever-changing environment of Health and Social Care?

Do you want to play a key role in making a difference to the role, career and educational development of AHPs working at advanced levels of practice?

Working within the NMAHP Workforce, Education and Career Development Programme, you will have the opportunity to bring your unique skills and experience to the table - collaborating with Directorate teams and across multiple sectors and working with a broad range of AHP stakeholders to effect real change and develop a clear vision for role, career and role development for AHPs working at advanced levels of practice.
