To provide and ensure availability of Beatson records for all outpatients, inpatient and day case consultations held at BWoSCC, along with records for all peripheral clinics across the West of Scotland.  You will maintain the Beatson record filing library ensuring accuracy at all times.  You will retrieve and work from prepared clinic lists in a variety of formats (print-outs, diaries and faxes), identifying the patient’s case record number using TrakCare and ensure case records are located/requested/retrieved within agreed timescales. TYou will ensure all case records are tracked, bundled/packed/boxed in preparation for clinic attendance and emptying of tubs on return of the case records to the Beatson filing library.   You will communication with colleagues both on site and on peripheral sites and  assist in the culling of non-current and deceased case notes from the library as directed by the health records team leader and to send to off-site storage.  The geographical layout of the hospital dictates that there is a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing involved in retrieving records.  This post is physically demanding and involves a great deal of frequent lifting and handling of case records (approx. 30 at a time) on a daily basis and lifting the tubs into which these records are packed.   These tubs can weigh up to 15 kgs.   The use of trolleys to transport case records between offices/departments from level 0 to level 4.   Considerable periods of time are spent in front of a computer monitor.  A good general education, including 4 standard/O grades including English is required.    Previous health records experience is essential.    Good keyboard skills and communication skills are essential.    The ability to work both as part of a team and on your own initiative is essential.   The ability to cope with pressure and work to deadlines is essential.  The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 3.30pm - 8.00pm.
