Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
NHS Scotland Academy, Learning and Innovation is a recently formed (2023) directorate within NES to support the development of learning and innovation within the organisation which will have system-wide impact on the development of the health and social care workforce. Uniquely, the Director works across the executive teams of two national health boards: NES and NHS Golden Jubilee to lead the development, implementation, and ongoing management of NHS Scotland Academy.
The role of the NHS Scotland Academy, Learning and Innovation (NHSSA, LI) Directorate is wide-ranging and exciting. The Directorate was formed to support the development of learning and innovation within the organisation which will have system-wide impact on the development of the health and social care workforce.
The Opportunity
The Knowledge Management and Discovery (KMD) Business Unit manages access to resources to inform practice and learning for the health and social care workforce.
The business unit supports both the management and use of the resources hosted on The Knowledge Network a national digital library and Turas Learn a learning management system for NES and other organisations.

Working within the knowledge services team, part of the Knowledge Management & Discovery Business Unit, we are looking for a Knowledge Manager to deliver knowledge support for staff in NHS Education for Scotland to assist them in ensuring their work is informed by the best available evidence.

What We Love to See
This is a highly specialist role with a focus on supporting NHS Education for Scotland staff. Knowledge managers need offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:
• Experience in providing literature searches and evidence summaries to a high standard
• Experience in creating current awareness bulletins, ideally with an educational focus
• Experience in delivering literature searching and critical appraisal training
• Experience in delivering a journal club
• A good awareness of knowledge management tools and techniques
• Highly effective communicator knowing how to make complex information and language simple for diverse internal stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
• Ability to collaboratively work with different teams to provide access to high quality evidence sources
• Highly experienced in using a variety of technologies and software, including bibliographic databases and Microsoft 365 applications
• Ability to confidently lead and facilitate conversations to understand key requirements
• Proven experience as a problem solver
• Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary
• Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines
