Flexible Location: Based throughout Scotland, NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office and hybrid working. Occasional presence at our Glasgow/Edinburgh office(s) is a requirement for this role. We’re happy to talk about how you want to work.
Work Pattern: Fixed Term/Secondment until 30/06/2026, 37 hours per week.

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Finance Directorate operates under a Finance Business Partnering ethos to support NES in delivering their strategic objectives and in the management of its c£790m annual budget within a robust and proportionate governance structure.
This role will sit within the Finance Business Partnering team and will provide technical financial advice and future focused decision support for various functions within the organisation, to help ensure long term financial sustainability.

Finance Managers offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you are a CCAB or CIMA qualified and can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:
Proven experience of budget management and forecasting in a large, complex environment
A clear knowledge and understanding of finance business partnering and how to support directorates to achieve their goals
Aptitude for building key networks and strategic alliances across multiple stakeholders
Ability to confidently lead conversations to understand needs and take a proactive approach to planning and prioritising workload whilst maintaining accurate and up to date financial documentation
Strong analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound professional judgement in a complex decision-making environment
Highly effective communicator knowing how to make complex financial information and language simple for a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing, and at all levels)
Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines
Coaching/mentoring experience
