Work Pattern: Fixed Term, Full Time, 37 hours per week
Fixed term or Secondment** for 12 months from date of appointment

Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
Our Directorate
The Finance Directorate is at the centre of NES and is responsible for ensuring the efficient financial management and control necessary to support all our business activities. We enable the delivery of high quality services and ensure that we efficiently and effectively obtain best value from public money.
The Directorate is led by the Director of Finance and each of the departments is led by a Head of Service, in this case the Head of Procurement and Commissioning.
Our Department
The Procurement team is responsible for:
- Securing ‘best value’ through professional, planned and sustainable procurement
- All procurement and commissioning of goods and services across NES
- Ensuring that all procurement activity, including suppliers and contracts, is appropriately controlled and managed from an operational, legal and financial perspective, and that goods and services procured are fit for purpose
- Raising all purchase orders and is the sole recipient of all procurement and commissioning requests, directing each requisition down the appropriate procurement pathway for adherence to due process, supplier choice and negotiation
- Logistically managing all elements of the procurement operating system, supplier information and the provision of management information
The Opportunity
We are looking for an individual with experience working in a Procurement Officer role within a public sector procurement environment, using procurement/finance systems and tools alongside day-to-day operational functions.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting a busy procurement department, liaising with internal stakeholders and suppliers, creating and awarding tenders, and facilitating a smooth and efficient turnaround in all aspects of procurement.
