As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
We are looking for a first level registered practitioner, e.g. RN, BMS or ODP to join our SNBTS Transfusion Team to promote the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood products through the development of national programmes of education, associated quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives. You will join the North Regional Team, be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post. A competent and confident communicator and presenter, able to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving, you will promote and champion this national programme at all levels. Candidates should have experience in a blood transfusion, haematology or related specialty.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent experience. The post is within the SNBTS Patient Services Transfusion Team and will be based in Aberdeen Blood Donor Centre, you will be required to travel between NHS sites and Higher Education Institutes in order to fully undertake all the duties associated with the post and as such a valid driving licence is desirable. The post-holder will be responsible for supporting safe transfusion practice and maintaining good communication channels across NHS Grampian as well as supporting other areas covered by North Region Team and occasional travel to other boards may be required. .
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.
Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC/HCPC registration at the time of applying.
