As a Team lead Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will be responsible for the Gastroenterology/ IBD service both professionally and managerially, which may cross traditional, professional or service boundaries.

Within this senior role, you will have had a minimum significant experience working as a CNS within Gastroenterology and have specialist / relevant knowledge on service requirements to facilitate as a change agent to improve quality. You will have the ability to focus on leadership, facilitation, teaching, research & audit to deliver specialist care within various setting/ hospitals in Greater Glasgow & Clyde as the service requires. Qualified non medical prescriber is an advantage


You will work within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care and have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical aspects of care to support patient compliance with treatment regimes, in particular patients on Anti TNf therapy.


You will act as a resource for expert advice and training, facilitating an immediate point of contact for urgent patient consultation. You will plan efficient outpatient care & independent follow up reviews  to facilitate  wellbeing & admission avoidance.


You will facilitate and support your team in further clinician –led bio similar switch, controlling patient’s symptoms / management, provide patient education regarding the benefits of Biosimilars in IBD whilst generating significant cost savings


You will possess substantial senior experience with a high level of interpersonal, managerial & leadership skills, creating a supportive ethos to ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all staff within the team, encouraging best practice to deliver a high quality of care to both in-patients and out-patients alike.


You will be experienced in Staff Rota regulation, financial budget control and formal absence review & management and ensure the team works within regulated NMC policy.


You will be responsible for consultancy, teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the Lead nurse and maintain service objectives to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised IBD care across South / South West sector.


You must have the ability to work autonomously and possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to manage & support this specific client group and team


You will be responsible to engage with various teams,   hospital clinicians and general practitioners to maintain excellent clinical links between the services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times.  You will be expected to contribute professionally within groups which may cross-traditional or service boundaries and posses a high level of ITC skills including e- forms, Trakcare and portal.  It is essential that you are currently a NMC Registered Adult Nurse


You will be based within the South West Sector and shift pattern is variable Monday - Friday as the service requirements dictate.
