The role of the Operational Manager is to lead, develop and deliver healthcare services at a local and national level. Provide formal statement of assurance

to the prison directorate on compliance with clinical governance and health care standards.  Accountable for the delivery of all clinical care for the population by ensuring individualised packages of care are in place including referrals to secondary care services and external services.  You will provide strategic management to the healthcare service ensuring that the service is continually reviewed against internal and external performance management objectives.  You will lead on specific national initiatives to support healthcare development across the NHS estate e.g. professional standards, medicines management, nurse training and learning strategy and lead and provide strategic steer in planning healthcare services for the establishment on behalf of the Prison Healthcare Service Manager and the NHS including ensuring adequate staffing resource is available, contingency planning e.g. infectious outbreaks.  You will be responsible for identifying service gaps and needs and resourcing local contractors/ service providers and implementing Service Level agreements and national/ local contracts.  It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse – with the NMC registration (Adult/Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse) and that you are educated to minimum degree level or equivalent.  You should have a record of continuing professional development to Masters Degree or equivalent level and evidence of management and leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in a challenging health environment.  You should have evidence of post-registration clinical practice development Understanding of and ability to work within Clinical Governance.  The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 8.00am – 4.30pm (flexible to meet the needs of the service).
