Job Advert

NHS Grampian are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine to join our established team at a Major Trauma Centre based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).   The team consists of roughly 10 WTE Consultants, an Associate Specialist, a Specialty Doctor, numerous training grade doctors and this expansion in Specialty Doctor numbers coincides with the recruitment of a further Consultant.
The successful applicant would join those training grade doctors at ST4 level or above in providing middle-grade level cover within the Emergency Department.
As Aberdeen Royal Infirmary hosts all major medical and surgical specialties there are opportunities for the successful applicant to develop their interests with other clinical teams.  The department also provides cover to the Paediatric Emergency Department at the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH) and has strong links with medical education and research through Aberdeen University.  In addition the service also provides a pre-hospital rapid response service in collaboration with the Scottish Ambulance Service and there is the potential for successful candidates to gain experience within any of these areas.
NHS Grampian serves a population of roughly 540,000 people and the Emergency Departments at ARI and RACH combined see in the region of 95,000 attendances per annum.
NHS Grampian provides the perfect solution to all interests and lifestyles.  Aberdeen has the most buoyant economy in the UK outside of London and offers all the attractions of any major city. Aberdeenshire boasts many picturesque towns and villages within easy commuting distance and provides access to an enormous range of outdoor pursuits, ranging from fishing to skiing.  Excellent transport links ensure that Edinburgh and Glasgow are less than 2 hours by train and the ever expanding Aberdeen airport has multiple flights daily to London (1 hour) and many other destinations across the UK and Europe.

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. For more information visit www.gmc-uk.org

Applicants must have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which should be in Emergency Medicine.
