Job Advert

We are seeking to recruit an HCPC registered Art Therapist to a permanent, Band 7, 0.4 WTE post within NHS Forth Valley’s Arts Therapies service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly-created post within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services; it is also a rare opportunity to work within an established NHS Arts Therapies team consisting of Art and Music Therapists. The team is operationally managed by the Principal Arts Therapist and is hosted within the broader Psychological Therapies Service. The Arts Therapies service operates across the health board as a whole, with input to Adult Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, as well as CAMHS.

The post holder will provide direct clinical input as an Art Therapist within Tier 3 community CAMHS. They will manage their own caseload and work autonomously within multi-disciplinary teams. They will be required to work with children and young people who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health problems, and looked after and accommodated children. This will entail engaging with the wider family/carer system, collaborating with other CAMHS professionals, and working closely with external agencies. The post holder will be required to have a working knowledge of attachment theory.

NHS Forth Valley’s Psychological Therapies service is committed to staff development. The post holder will participate in Arts Therapies team meetings, team development sessions and reflective practice groups. All psychological therapies staff are supported with personalised development plans. The post holder will also have access to a broader range of reflective practice groups and CPD events within the wider Psychological Therapies service.

The successful candidate will have post-qualification experience of working in mental health settings with children and young people, including those who are looked after or accommodated. Experience of working within an NHS environment is desirable, but relevant, similar experience will be considered.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.  More information on this scheme can be found at www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
