An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Diabetologist/Endocrinologist to join our forward-thinking and internationally recognised Diabetes service in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee
Successful applicants will join our strong team of like-minded Consultant colleagues (4 NHS Tayside, 4 University of Dundee) and established Specialist Nurse teams in developing the range and depth of diabetes and endocrine services we offer and to maintain our standing of an internationally recognised diabetes team. At present our services include general diabetes, nephropathy, foot disease, pump therapy, genetic diabetes, antenatal and young adult clinics. Our endocrine services encompass general endocrinology, combined medical and surgical pituitary, Neuroendocrine Tumour and gender endocrinology. We have established relationships that allow a large range of dynamic endocrine testing. Our University colleagues are internationally renowned, with large established research teams exploring hypoglycaemia, pharmacoepidemiology and neuroendocrine genetics. Current foci of clinical service evolution include, but are not limited to, the development and streamlining of our outpatient diabetes service, keeping abreast of increasing demand for type 2 diabetes care and the provision of novel technologies for diabetes care
This post in line with the shared responsibilities of our current medical teams to the wider medical floor, will also provide input to the general internal medicine/acute medical unit. The out of hours weekend rota currently runs at 1 in 6. Ninewells hospital is the main teaching environment for medical students from the University of Dundee, and as such there will be the expectation and opportunity for the development and delivery of both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. There are also many avenues to explore research interests both academically and commercially with our close links to the University of Dundee and the NHS Tayside research facilities respectively
Candidates should possess MRCP and be on the GMC Specialist Registers for both Diabetes and Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine or Acute Internal Medicine, or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
