NHS Tayside has a vacancy for an experienced Senior Systems Support Specialist in the Digital Directorate.


Reporting to the Data Centre services manager and primarily working in the compute and storage arenas up to OS and Database level, the successful candidate will take the lead in the design and delivery of the high quality infrastructure services that are required to support critical healthcare digital services by producing improvements, solutions and services for delivery into the operational environment.


Technologies in use cover Virtual Compute, SAN/NAS, Enterprise backup products, Cloud Services, management and security tools. The product set includes VMWare, Cisco UCS, EMC SAN, Netapp and Tintri NAS, MS Azure, Windows server, Linux, Solaris, SQL Server and Oracle. Management and security tools are from SolarWinds and Trend Micro.


This is a senior position and although a strong hands on tech background is essential, the scale of the digital environment requires an individual with a high degree of organisation, communication and planning abilities. A strong appreciation of IT Service Management methodologies is desirable, e.g. ITIL


This post will be based in Dundee, though some travel and flexible working is expected. Participation in an out of hours on-call rota will be required.


The post requires degree level qualification, or equivalent knowledge, plus proven experience in managing critical IT services.  Fuller details can be obtained from the job description.
