Healthcare Improvement Scotland is the national improvement agency for health and social care in Scotland. The Community Engagement and Transformational Change Directorate’s aim is to drive better health and care outcomes through meaningful and quality assured community engagement, innovative system redesign and sustainable improvement.
We are currently seeking a Senior Engagement Advisor to play a key role in shaping and embedding high-quality public engagement practices across health and care in Scotland. This role will support services to redesign and continuously improve in ways that meaningfully involve people and reflect their needs, ensuring that improvements are person-centred, inclusive, trauma informed, and informed by lived and living experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Engagement Practice Improvement Unit, where you will lead and develop the engagement and equalities components of transformational change programmes, while also providing expert advice across Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).
As Senior Engagement Advisor, you will:
- Lead the design and delivery of engagement strategies within transformational change projects.
- Provide expert advice and coaching across Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) programmes.
- Champion inclusive approaches that embed lived and living experience in change, policy and practice.
- Drive innovation in public and stakeholder engagement to support safe, effective, and person-centred care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the engagement and people-led elements of HIS's Scottish Approach to Change.
- Delivering professional advice and practical support through the Unit's Engagement Practice Responsive Support service.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of the Engagement Practice Learning and Improvement System, including the design and delivery of workshops and training in engagement practice and people-led processes.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is a subject matter expert in patient, public, and community engagement.
- Has a proven track record of planning and leading public engagement processes in health and/or social care change.
- Has demonstrable experience in designing and delivering learning programmes on engagement practice.
- Builds trusted relationships and inspires collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
- Communicates effectively and works well within teams, bringing strong interpersonal skills.
