Job Advert

The Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 intended to ensure that health and social care services were integrated so that people receive the care they need at the right time and in the right setting, with a focus on community-based, preventative care.  The reform affected everyone who receives, delivers and plans health and social care services.  It required Councils and NHS Boards to work together, as Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs).  By integrating the planning and provision of care, partners in the public, third and independent sectors are improving people’s experiences of care along with high quality and sustainable services.

In line with the Act, Inverclyde HSCP developed its Strategic Plan 2019 – 24 setting out the arrangements for carrying out the integration function for the next five years.  The Strategic Plan was developed with communities across the area, reflecting the caring nature of its citizens and the unique challenges of intergenerational inequalities – often reinforced by persistent poverty – and states our commitment to ensuring we work together to help people stay healthy for longer.  This approach puts every child, citizen and community at the centre of our thinking, planning and our actions.  It is therefore essential we work in collaboration with our communities and staff as we deliver on the priorities set out in the Strategic Plan 2019 – 24.

The Strategic Plan and its associated Big 6 Actions is ambitious but the HSCP is committed to making real change for our local citizens.

Working as a member of the Strategy and Support Service function, we are seeking an experienced Planning Officer who will play a key role in leading the service planning and development requirements to deliver transformational change across Inverclyde, in support of the HSCPs Strategic Plan 2019 – 24 & beyond.

Working with clinicians, managers, professionals, partner organisations, service users / carers/ wider communities, and other key stakeholders across health and social care, and multi-disciplinary agencies, the Planning Officer will provide service planning expertise and leadership to support the delivery of new models of care that achieve the best outcomes for service users, their families and carers.

You will be at the forefront of a dynamic programme of service development.  This will involve you making a significant contribution to all facets of health and social care planning.

You must be able to demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills, think innovatively and possess the ability to work collaboratively across teams, partner organisations and communities to support transformational change, and provide expert advice, support and organisational intelligence to the Chief Officer, Senior Management Team, Heads of Service, and other senior managers regarding service planning and development.

This is a full-time position based in Inverclyde HSCP head office in Greenock.

Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm with occasional evening & weekend work if required.

If you are interested in working in our friendly, flexible organisation which prides itself on being an exemplary employer, and an organisation where we put people first, then please apply.
