Job Advert

Lead with purpose. Deliver care that matters.

We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Senior Charge Nurse to lead our busy Orthopaedic Ward (Ward 2 West)—championing safe, effective, and person‑centred care while supporting a high‑performing multidisciplinary team.

What you’ll do

  • Provide inclusive, hands‑on leadership for the ward, modelling evidence‑based, person‑centred practice.
  • Drive quality, safety and improvement—using patient feedback, audits and learning to enhance outcomes.
  • Lead workforce planning, rostering and skill‑mix to ensure safe, efficient, cost‑effective care.
  • Coach, develop and appraise colleagues; build a supportive learning culture with strong clinical supervision.
  • Own day‑to‑day operations—escalating and resolving issues, partnering across services to optimise patient flow.
  • Uphold professional, legislative and organisational standards, with exemplary record‑keeping and governance.

About you

You’ll bring proven clinical credibility in orthopaedics and the leadership confidence to motivate others through change. You will have:

  • NMC UK first‑level registration (Registered Nurse) and a relevant degree/leadership qualification (or working towards).
  • Extensive post‑registration experience in orthopaedic nursing and sound knowledge of the legal/ethical framework for safe care.
  • Leadership/management experience with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support others with empathy and integrity.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and confidence managing ward/department budgets.

Why join us

  • A key leadership role with scope to shape practice, culture and patient experience.
  • Supportive senior nursing network and strong MDT partnerships.
  • Protected opportunities for professional development and leadership growth.
  • Inclusive employer — NHS Golden Jubilee is a Disability Confident Leader and welcomes applications from all communities

NHS Golden Jubilee encourages applications from all sections of the community. We promote a culture of inclusion across the organisation and are proud of the diverse workforce we have.
