Work Pattern: Permanent, Part Time, 21.6 hours per week (21 hours and 36 minutes)
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected
You must have eligibility and entitlement to work in the UK which is required to be maintained throughout your period of employment.
Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Medical Directorate is responsible to the NES Board and through the Board to Scottish Government for the commissioning and delivery of postgraduate medical education in Scotland. This training is delivered in general practices and health boards to standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC). The role of the Directorate is to oversee training, manage the trainee’s progress through the training programme and ensure the training is delivered to GMC standards.

We are looking for one Admin Officer to join our small, but highly talented team. In this exciting and varied role, you will collaborate across multiple workstreams and organisations, having a direct impact on the successful delivery of education and training for the healthcare workforce in Scotland

Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and confidently at all levels
Experience of working collaboratively and flexibly within in a team, and across other workstreams and departments
Extensive experience working in the field of business operations, including providing business support to meetings and production of formal minutes/action notes
Ability to work on own initiative, to effectively organise and prioritise own workloads and that of others, and to meet strict deadline
Experience of maintaining comprehensive and complex programme documentation in a manner that is accessible
Ability to proactively identify and communicate improvements to processes and systems
Highly effective communicator knowing how to make sometimes complex information and language simple for diverse senior internal and external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing
Demonstrate honesty, integrity, care and compassion when dealing with others, utilising tact and persuasion skills when necessary
Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise own workloads, to meet strict deadlines
