A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative and dynamic experienced registered nurse to lead the nursing team within the Emergency Department at Caithness General Hospital. As the Senior Charge Nurse you will be committed to continuous professional development and possess strong communication and organisational skills with the ability to apply these effectively in a dynamic environment. As an experienced nurse you will provide strong clinical theoretical and practical leadership to the Emergency Department team whilst promoting a collaborative partnership with multi disciplinary colleagues both within and out with the department. You will provide a high standard of nursing care and be able to demonstrate that you can deliver change through effective clinical leadership.
Caithness General is a well equipped 42 bedded Rural General Hospital with facilities including an Emergency Department, 24 hour CT scanning, high dependency unit, acute assessment unit, post acute/rehabilitation ward, theatre suite, day case unit, ambulatory care unit, midwife led unit, laboratory and pharmacy services.
The hospital provides acute and community services to a population of approximately 35,000 in an area of approximately 3,000 square miles. The area has a very varied landscape from mountain to the flow country and some spectacular coastal scenery. This post offers the satisfaction of living and working in some of the UK's most secluded and unspoilt countryside. In addition, there are the advantages of a low crime rate and exceptional safety and freedom for children. Caithness has regular rail and bus services and there are daily flights from Wick Airport. Wick is approximately 105 miles north of Inverness and about 17 miles south of John O' Groats. The local schools are excellent and property is very affordable.
This is a permanent full time 37.5 hour post, working Monday to Friday with some flexibility required.
