University Hospital Hairmyres Emergency Department (ED) invites Physician Associates (PAs) with significant experience in musculoskeletal medicine / surgery to join an expanding and dynamic Emergency Medicine team.
Hairmyres Emergency Department is part of a busy District General Hospital and currently sees a wide range of conditions including paediatrics and major trauma. Hairmyres has been at the forefront of PA development and education in the UK since participating in the NHS Scotland PA Pilot Project in 2006.
The Emergency Department currently hosts 6 PA/AP’s who are part of a clinical team of 12 Consultants, 3 Registrars, 7 GP / FY2 trainees and 3 Minor Injury Practitioners. The Consultants are all experienced in working with PA’s / AP’s and are keen to support and develop the role.
Hairmyres Emergency Department is founded on an ethos of education and best practice and the successful candidates will enjoy 4 hours a week of Continued Professional Development along with full participation in all aspects of clinical care.
Applicants must:
- have graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant/Physician Associate program (US or UK)
- have passed their respective certification examination (current PA-C or PA-R)
- be registered with the PA-MVR (pending registration may be accepted)
Salary dependent on experience – Band 8a £45,446-£51,883 *Post holders who do not meet the minimum experience requirements may be treated in accordance with Annex 21 Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees.
