Applications are invited for a Locum Appointment for Service (LAS) at ST3/ST4 level in General Surgery at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.  The successful candidate will work on a 1:8 rota which includes a Core Surgical trainee, Specialty trainees and Speciality Doctors in General Surgery.

£980.16 weekly rate plus banding, paid monthly

Posts are available to start on 5 August 2020 for 12 months.  Applicants must have full GMC (UK) registration and have completed Core Surgical training or equivalent.  The successful applicant will have sound academic knowledge, good communication and IT skills and be an effective team player.

We aim to provide high quality surgical training, delivered in a supportive and friendly environment.  The post provides excellent exposure to the General Surgical subspecialties of Upper GI Surgery, Colorectal, Breast and Endocrine Surgery. The endoscopy service at Dumfries is largely surgical led and therefore the successful applicant would have an excellent opportunity to develop endoscopic skills. The successful applicant would contribute to the 1 in 8 General Surgical emergency rota which includes Urology and Vascular services.

Post-holders will be allocated an educational supervisor and supported to develop a portfolio to suit their personal career aspirations. The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the strong culture of audit and research within the department which is formally supported by the local Research and Development Department.
