Applications are invited for the post of Principal Clinical Scientist and Deputy Director of GenQA. GenQA is a member of the UK National External Quality Assessment Service (UK NEQAS) consortium and is an international organisation facilitating optimal patient care by providing comprehensive assessments for the wide range of activities involved in the delivery of genomic services. This is an excellent opportunity to join GenQA which is a collaboration between the Cytogenomic External Quality Assessment Service (CEQAS), based in Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford and UK NEQAS for Molecular Genetic, based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.  GenQA provides genomic External Quality Assessment (EQA) and educational tools to participants globally,

We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the expanding team of scientists in this internationally recognised EQA centre.  The post advertised is a key position, involving planning of molecular genetics scheme activities and day-to-day management of their implementation. The post holders will liaise closely with other GenQA staff and, more widely, with a wide range of colleagues including those in participating laboratories, the diagnostic industry, other UK NEQAS Centres, and accreditation agencies (e.g. UKAS).

Applicants should have a background in providing a diagnostic molecular service and experience of assessing external quality assessment for genetics. They should be able to represent the views of the Centre at local, regional and national levels. Applicants should be registered with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Scientist specialising in Genetics. The post holder will be employed by NHS Lothian and will be located in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This post is for a fixed term of 12 months.
