Consultant in Rheumatology Medicine (2 posts available)
Applications are invited to join a progressive rheumatology team as a Consultant in Rheumatology based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness with outreach services provided at Ross Memorial Hospital, Dingwall. This is a replacement post based following emigration of current post holder and is offered on the basis of 10 Programmed Activities per week. You will join an MDT team with two other consultants and 3 specialist nurses.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice or within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT at the time of interview for the post.
The Consultant will assist in providing a modern service to run to national quality criteria for the population of the Highlands. This post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, but applicants are required to undertake work at other hospitals within NHS Highland. There will be no on-call duties but with mutual agreement the job plan may be modified to include this if the successful applicant has combined rheumatology/GIM accreditation and wishes to be included in the GIM on-call rota. Raigmore Hospital is a modern well-equipped district general hospital with 400 beds, which serves a catchment area of almost 15,000 square miles covering the entire Scottish Highlands, Western Isles, and surrounding area. Rheumatology inpatients are accommodated in a 5 bedded unit at Ross Memorial Hospital which has medical cover from the local GP practice out of hours. The service is supported by a multidisciplinary team with dedicated physiotherapy, occupational therapy and specialist nursing sessions. There is a hydrotherapy pool on site. The unit contributes to multi-centre clinical research and audit.
