As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland (NSS), the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also internationally through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining international leaders in each field of expertise.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Manager to lead the Maintenance & Validation Services (MVS). MVS is a department within the Quality Directorate that provides a complete range of specialist engineering support to all SNBTS directorates including mechanical, electrical, electronic, calibration, and validation services. MVS maintains a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) for all equipment requiring maintenance support throughout the SNBTS and coordinates and schedules maintenance and calibration activities. The department also has oversight for overall compliance across the organization for validation in accordance with several regulatory bodies, including the MHRA, HTA and UKAS.
Applications are invited from individuals with significant experience of engineering and validation in a highly regulated environment. Applicants should possess demonstrable experience as an effective, forward thinking leader with drive and self motivation to lead the department and work with colleagues across all levels of the organization.
Applicants should be educated to degree level in an engineering or scientific discipline with additional postgraduate or professional qualifications/expertise to master’s level.
This post is based at the Jack Copland Centre, although there will be a requirement to visit other sites throughout Scotland.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.
Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
