Why work for us?

Patients are at the centre of everything we do in our daily working lives at NHS Borders ensuring they are safe, cared for efficiently, effectively by suitably experienced and qualified staff driving quality at the heart of patient care. We are a dynamic and forward thinking team with a wealth of clinical and leadership experience.  We aim for an open and honest culture and believe in nurturing future stars in NHS.

About the Borders

After an absence of almost 50 years, the Borders Railway has now opened, with train services to central Edinburgh running every thirty minutes to Tweedbank adn Galashiels (journey time 50 minutes approx).  On opening the railway Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth said "The Borders railway brings so much promise for sharing and invigorating this most beautiful countryside as a place to work, live and enjoy”.

By the way MELROSE has taken the title of the best place to live in Scotland in a new national ranking - https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/borders-town-of-melrose-named-best-place-to-live-in-scotland/

The Role

This new service has been set up to ensure that NHS Borders provides the continued provision of General Medical Services (GMS) for patients with challenging behaviour who have been removed from their previous doctor’s list, in accordance with the GMS Contract (2018).  This is a dedicated service for this particular group of patients.  You will be responsible for developing and providing this service. This will include direct patient contact at specified times, in a secure and safe environment, and with a security presence during agreed hours.  The post combines a direct clinical care role with leadership of the operational and strategic planning of the CPS and further development of a new service.

You must be fully registered with the GMC, on the GP specialty register and hold a license to practice.  Previous experience working within General Practice is essential.  In your career to date you should evidence well-developed influencing skills combined with a facilitative and supportive style of working.
