Candidates who commence on band 6 will be required to successfully complete the appropriate qualification/s or training as outlined within the Annex 21 competency framework prior to progressing to band 7.
Candidates who meet the full requirements of the person specification for band 7 will commence payment at band 7 with no requirement to progress through the competency framework.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gastroenterology /Trainee Non Medical Endoscopist within the GI nursing team of NHS Fife. The nursing team consists of 6 practising Nurse Endoscopists’/Clinical Nurse Specialists in Gastroenterology and x2 Senior Staff Nurses. We currently have two trainees completing the 2019 Glasgow Caledonian University course. The team has full time administration support and is fully supported by 6 Consultant Gastroenterologists.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for clinical care, a strong team work ethic and the aspiration to develop their clinical skills working as a key member of a senior nurse clinical team.
The post requires education to a degree level and the ability to work across professional boundaries and a commitment to continuous professional development. The GI team are dedicated to the provision of ongoing effective supervision, support and education.
The trainee post will work within the CNS Gastroenterology nursing team and will be required to complete the Endoscopy Knowledge and Skills Framework course at Glasgow Caledonian University and the Non-Medical Prescribing course thereafter.
You will be a first level registered nurse with post registration ward based experience in either acute medical/surgical or admissions and relevant senior nurse experience. Experience of GI nursing is desirable within these remits.
This challenging post requires excellent interpersonal and decision making skills, you will be performing independent colonoscopy and/or gastroscopy, undertaking out-patient clinics for patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease, Liver disease and Coeliac disease. Assessing and treating patients via our telephone helpline and Rapid Access clinic. This post also involves blood monitoring and enteral tube feeding pre-assessment, insertion and initial follow up. Clinical Validation of Endoscopy Surveillance patients and GI physiology investigations are also clinical roles within the post.
This is a permanent full time 37.5hours per week post based at Victoria Hospital, worked over 4 or 5 days. Occasional weekend work may be required to cover the needs of the service and cross site cover may also be required at Queen Margaret Hospital and/or St Andrews Community Hospital.
This is initially a training post Band 6/7 Annex 21 2.i.on completion of relevant courses and a period of consolidation of skills.
