Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the NHS National Services Scotland, plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in manufacturing, product development, biomedical research and donor services.  Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to fill the post of driver working as part of our team in Edinburgh. The main duties are; driving service vehicles delivering Blood Components to hospitals all over Scotland (including emergency deliveries) These duties cover a 24/7/365 service will involve working rotating early, day and late shifts with some weekend working. 

You should hold a driving license entitlement for class B/B+E (a vehicle with MAM of 3500kgs with a trailer) with a C1 (a vehicle between 3500kgs & 7500kgs) being desirable but not essential. The post is based within our Transport Section, at Jack Copland Centre, Herriot Watt University Campus, Edinburgh but travel to our other depot at Glasgow could be required.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check.

Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
