As a member of the colorectal team, the Stoma Care Nurse will assist in the ongoing support and education of patients, relatives and staff, to provide proactive, comprehensive, co-ordinated and effective care and treatment for patients undergoing surgery which results in stoma formation. This will be achieved through direct personal contact with patients and indirectly through leading by example, facilitation, teaching and research/audit. To provide general nursing care and specialist nursing care of pre- and post- operative patients having undergone major elective and emergency surgery. The role of the Stoma care nurse will also be to follow up care after discharge from hospital and arrange return outpatient appointments to the stoma care service. Work within multi-professional team to ensure a high standard of care to a defined group of patients. Competently perform the necessary technical/ invasive/physical aspects for this defined patient group. It is essential you are Adult Registered Nurse with post registration experience, ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description and Evidence of leadership skills. The hours of this post will be worked Monday to Friday.
