Job Advert

Applications are invited for a twelve month Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) post within NHS Dumfries and Galloway from 05/08/2020 - 03/08/2021.

Broad based training is a nationally recognised two year training programme aimed at post-foundation trainees who wish to gather more experience of primary and secondary care prior to embarking on a training programme.  Spread over two years, trainees rotate through primary care, psychiatry, paediatrics and general medicine, spending 10% of each training block in one of the other specialties.  Following a successful ARCP at the end of year 2, trainees are eligible to apply for direct entry to the second year of training in any of their training posts.

NHS Dumfries & Galloway are pleased to offer twin one year LAT posts in broad based training. Recognised as training posts, the successful candidates will be able to choose their own rotation with two 6 month blocks from Psychiatry, Paediatrics and General Medicine.

Banding will be dependent upon the rotation chosen. National term and conditions apply.

Applicants must have full GMC (UK) registration, sound academic knowledge, good communication skills and be an effective team player. To be eligible for the posts you must have completed foundation training or equivalent.

It is an exciting time in Dumfries and Galloway as the new District General Hospital opened in December 2017.  The hospital is based on the western outskirts of the town. The new hospital will ensure NHS Dumfries and Galloway staff are able to continue to provide high quality clinical care to the population of Dumfries and Galloway in a modern environment.   Free accommodation for the duration of employment is provided.
