EU INTERREG VA iSIMPATHY Project

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two dynamic and ambitious Specialist Clinical Pharmacists to join our primary care pharmacy teams to promote the safe and effective use of medicines and to deliver a specialist clinical pharmacy service focussing on polypharmacy.

These posts are fixed term for 23 months.


One post will be based in Helensburgh/Dunoon and the other in Fort William.


We are looking for experienced and highly motivated Specialist Clinical Pharmacists with excellent communication and inter personal skills; who have the ability work as part of a team and work independently. Post holders will be required to be registered as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and hold an independent prescribing qualification. 

The post holder will be required to travel to  various locations throughout NHS Highland.

Both posts are part of a partnership between NHS Highland and EU INTERREG VA iSIMPATHY Project. The post holders will work alongside the primary care pharmacy team, based in general practice and in partnership with the multi – disciplinary teams in the respective localities. The iSIMPATHY Project will provide in depth training in polypharmacy, clinical and consultation skills from leading medical and pharmacist practitioners. The post holders will in turn be supported to train other health care staff.

These posts offer significant opportunity for the post holders to develop new skills and gain experience in delivering primary care clinical pharmacy services, including polypharmacy reviews, and research methodologies.

The posts are full time fixed term for 23 months to deliver the specifications detailed within the iSIMPATHY project. Secondments or applications for part time appointments will be considered. The post holders will be line managed by the respective Lead Pharmacists. 


It is anticipated that interviews will be conducted on 31st August 2020
