Advanced Cancer Care Pharmacist – ChemoCare/ Haematology
Band 8a 1.0WTE
Fixed Term - 18 months
Due to the upgrade of the Chemotherapy Electronic Prescribing Administration System, (CEPAS - Chemocare), used within the South East Scotland Cancer Network (SCAN), an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC). You will work closely with the current Lead CEPAS pharmacist, who is taking forward the system upgrade, and wider CEPAS team, to ensure the ongoing safe use and business as usual processes for the current version of ChemoCare are maintained whilst the upgrade project is underway.
You will be responsible for the clinical management of the current version of ChemoCare in use. Key elements of this post include:
- Ongoing development and maintenance of the clinical elements of ChemoCare for SCAN Health Boards, working in collaboration with the appropriate multi-professional staff groups and the external system provider.
- Responsibility for maintenance and management of the clinical elements of the CEPAS system, including drug files, critical tests, aseptic module and all related items, such as disease tree/ staging set-ups, course and protocol libraries and to work with clinical teams to ensure the timely availability and release of new cancer treatment regimens on ChemoCare.
- Provision of support to the Lead CEPAS pharmacist for the system upgrade
In addition there will be a clinical service component to this post – equivalent to 0.2WTE. You will work closely with senior colleagues to provide professional leadership for delivery of the clinical pharmacy service to haemato-oncology patients attending the ECC.
You will join a supportive pharmacy team committed to the development of services to cancer patients. The ECC provides specialist cancer services for the South East of Scotland Cancer Network, treating patients with solid tumours and haematological malignancies in day-case, OPD and in-patient settings. It is a specialist tertiary referral centre for a number of rarer cancers and has a teenage and young adult unit. The ECC has a broad research portfolio and participates in a wide range of cancer clinical trials.
Applicants should have cancer services experience and a postgraduate pharmacy qualification with an independent prescriber qualification being desirable. You will have excellent clinical, organisational and communication skills. Previous experience working with an electronic prescribing system is desirable.
You will participate in the WGH weekend and out of hours’ service and ECC public holiday rosters.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
