This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
West Lothian has an ever increasing Older Adult Population, some of whom require hospital based complex clinical care services. The post holder would be based at Maple Villa, but could be asked to work across West Lothian.
Maple Villa is a HBCCC ward for men with dementia whose stressed and distressed behaviour means they cannot be managed in a more homely environment.
As a Band 2 Non registered Nurse, you will be expected to work within a team supporting the patients, their relatives and carers. You will work alongside registered nurses to develop and implement care plans. You may be asked to liaise with other hospital wards, CPNs, social work, families, carers, Mental Welfare Commission, Nursing homes, and third sector agencies such as Alzheimer’s Scotland.
You will also be involved in the teaching and supervision junior members of staff, and act as a buddy to student nurses, bank staff, and new starts. A good attitude, knowledge and experience of working with people with dementia who experience stress and distressed behaviours is desirable. Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is also a condition of this post. The service is delivered over 7 days per week, 24 hours a day, so shifts can be across the 24 hour period.
