We have a vacancy for an experienced Diagnostic/Therapeutic Radiographer as a Band 7 Team Lead for MR Radiotherapy within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. You must have significant MR experience.
You will be required to lead the new MR Radiotherapy service within the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre providing a highly specialised clinical service to patients suffering with cancer. They must be able to demonstrate experience in the following;
- Working in collaboration with site specific clinicians and physicists to optimise anatomical and functional sequences required for radiotherapy treatment.
- Having an understanding of how MRI parameters, sequences and coils should be utilised/applied to ensure high quality images.
- Being familiar with the principles of MRI and be able to recognise causes of poor image quality, acting as a source of advice to site-specific teams.
- Understanding MR safety requirements, not only for staff but in ensuring patients have no contraindications through pre-screening.
- Understanding the importance of acquiring high quality images and the impact of distortion that may affect delineation accuracy.
- Consistently monitoring image quality and acceptability of images for radiotherapy planning purposes.
- Understanding the importance of safe and accurate image registration when using multi-modality images for radiotherapy planning.
The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre provides an integrated cancer management and treatment service for patients from the West of Scotland and beyond. Facilities are situated in the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Tom Wheldon Building on the Gartnavel Hospitals site and at the Lanarkshire Beatson satellite centre on the Monklands District Hospital site. Approximately 7500 courses of radiotherapy are provided annually requiring over 100,000 patient attendances. The Radiotherapy Department is equipped with the most up-to-date facilities currently available which includes 11 linear accelerators, 3 CT Scanners, an Advantage Windows Virtual Simulation system, an Eclipse planning system and all are networked via the Radiotherapy Management System.
The shift pattern is; 8.30 – 17.00 (clinical hours 8am – 7pm)
