This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. Applications are invited for a temporary post of Team Manager Biomedical Scientist within the Department of Molecular Microbiology/Virology, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE). Successful applicants will contribute in providing comprehensive support to the New Regional SARS-CoV testing centre set up by Scottish Government to provide additional resilience to existing SARS-CoV Health board testing.  With 2000 tests per day expected the requirement for these posts are essential.

Candidates should be adaptable, have good interpersonal skills and a professional attitude. Good practical experience and knowledge of Molecular techniques are desirable.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, organisational and training skills and must have experience of managing staff. As a Team Manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of the East Region SARS-CoV testing Hub and participate in the daily routine work, as well as the reporting of molecular investigations. There will be a requirement to organise laboratory management meetings and be involved in quality assurance, audit and other aspects of clinical governance.  Good interpersonal skills and being a committed team member are essential. 

There is a requirement to participate in the out of hours shift working rota.

Applicants must be state registered with the HCPC and require an MSc.
