Under the supervision of the Workshop Manager, to provide technical expertise to the seating and wheelchair service within WestMARC Services. 

Under the supervision of the Workshop Manager the Workshop Engineer will be responsible for the machining and fabrication of components and assemblies for the configuration and modification of complex manual and powered wheelchairs.  The Workshop Engineer will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, modification and repairs of “in-house” seating systems.  You will maintain appropriate liaison, communications and working relationships with clinical and technical staff to ensure the efficient delivery and /or repair of wheelchairs, accessories, modifications and cushions.  As a member of the wheelchair/ seating team to provide technical input, guidance and expertise in the assessment and development of modifications as requested by the Bioengineering team.  You will provide technical expertise in the development, manufacturing, commissioning, fitting and maintenance of equipment as requested by the clinical team. This may include instructing carers and users in the use of routine equipment as per manufacturers’ specifications and clinical conditions.  You should have a technical qualification such NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of experience and an HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.  Experience of working in a skilled technical post. The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm.
