These are fixed term posts for up to 23 months.


Following extensive work on behalf of the Chief Medical Officer’s Taskforce on Rape and Sexual Assault, Archway Services (Scottish Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Glasgow) has an exciting opportunity for two Post Graduate qualified registered nurses to participate, part time, in a Test of Change.


This ground-breaking initiative will see, for the first time ever in Scotland, Nurse Sexual Offence Examiners undertaking forensic medical examinations for adult victims of rape or sexual assault and giving evidence in court.


This role is central to supporting the work to review and reshape the workforce that provides support to adult victims of rape and sexual assault and if successful could pave the way for a new dynamic, multi-disciplinary workforce in Scotland.


Successful applicants must have:


•A current Nurse and Midwifery Council registration.
•A Post Graduate Certificate in Advanced Forensic Practice.
•Current experience of working in a sexual offences examination environment.
•Significant experience and evidence of competence in working as a Forensically Trained Nurse.
•Have experience in providing written or oral evidence for court.

 


The posts will be part time and successful candidates will receive a thorough induction when they move into post. This will include a local induction in Archway, preceptor work shadowing, NHS Education Scotland training and two additional days of court skills training covering report writing and giving evidence.


Work pattern: 18.75 hrs p/wk. 

You will be required to work 8 days over 4 weeks.

 Days of work likely to be either:
•Monday, Tuesday and Friday weeks 1 and 3 and Friday weeks 2 and 4 or Monday and Friday weeks 1 and 3 and Tuesday and Friday weeks 2 and 4.
