An exciting opportunity now exists for applications for the post of Minor Injuries Nurse Practitioner AFC Band 6, within University Hospital Monklands Minor Injuries Unit.  This post will be standalone post focussing solely on the Minor Injuries stream of Unscheduled Care presentations to UHM Emergency Department / Minor Injuries Unit.


As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care specific to minor injuries presentations, and / or the implementation and evaluation of these programmes ensuring the delivery of high quality care to this patient group.


Duties specific to the post include undifferentiated assessment of presenting conditions, initiation of appropriate investigations, determination of differential diagnosis, initiate treatment and where clinically appropriate, autonomously discharge patients.  Additionally, you will be expected to review treatment plans developed by less experienced staff in order to confirm differential diagnosis and advice on discharge/referral.  As we look towards implementing our MRP vision of becoming the first fully digital site in Scotland, we have exciting plans in progress for the development of a fully virtual minor injuries consultation service and successful applicants will have the opportunity to fully participate in this service with additional training.


In the absence of the Minor Injuries Team Leader, the post holder will have responsibility for the management of the Minor Injuries Service including supervision, development and deployment of junior staff.  You must be a Registered Nurse with current revalidation and NMC Registration and a minimum of 5 years post registration experience working within Minor Injuries, educated to Degree Level with additional evidence of post graduate study within the specialty.  You must be in possession of a qualification as a Mints Minor Injury Practitioner.  Highly desirable would be possession of the Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) qualification and the Non Medical Prescribing Qualification.  Applicants should also note the requirement to undertake Level 11 Post Graduate level study appropriate to the service needs.
