Test and Protect is Scotland’s approach to implementing the 'test, trace, isolate, support strategy', designed to break chains of transmission of COVID-19 in the community. This role forms part of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde‘s Contact Tracing programme which undertakes effective and extensive contact tracing, supporting people to self-isolate where required to do so.
We now have a number of immediate opportunities, based from East Bank Health Centre in the east end of Glasgow, to join our already established Contact Tracing Team on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
Successful candidates will be responsible for working closely with a team of Contact Tracers providing support and guidance in contact tracing for COVID-19 related cases and their contacts. . The postholder will lead on managing the more complex contacts/calls/settings escalated by the team and act as the main liaison point for Tier 2 / NHS Board Health Protection Teams.
In this key role you will deal with complex COVID-19 queries and provide advice to the public and to health professionals in line with the protocols and procedures associated with the contact tracing service. You will be required to uundertake case interviews for complex cases and perform an initial public health risk assessment of cases identified for contact tracing in line with operating procedures and protocols.
The postholder will ensure that their team has the appropriate level of support, training and access to information and systems to ensure that they support delivery of an effective contact tracing service.
You will be required to work from detailed standard operating procedures and call scripts and apply appropriate questioning skills to extract accurate information from people with COVID-19 and their contacts, who may be in an agitated or anxious state or have communication difficulties.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Contact Tracing service operates 7 days. We are seeking candidates available to work full time (37.5 hours) for shift patterns rostered across 7 days - Monday to Sunday 8am to 8pm evenings and weekends.
This role is demanding, challenging and at the same time highly rewarding. Applicants will need to demonstrate, through current / previous work experience, the ability to deal with often stressful and emotional conversations with the public and members of your team.
This is a unique opportunity which will suit those who can demonstrate a flexible approach to working in a service which regularly changes, with adaptable attitude while keeping calm under pressure. Understanding, awareness and commitment to following Information Governance procedures and Data Protection legislation will be a requirement of this role.
The ability to work full time across a work pattern which includes shifts rostered 8am to 8pm week days and weekends (inc. Public holidays) is essential.
To be successful in this position you will be someone who can remain calm under pressure, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with an empathetic nature. The aability to evidence being able to work independently, manage and prioritise own and team workload and cope with competing demands is an essential requirement as is a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, electronic data information systems and it goes without saying - an exceptional telephone manner.
Whilst experience in a health and social care setting is welcome applications are also encouraged from candidates who can demonstrate through experience that they meet the essential requirements detailed in the Qualifications and Experience Specified for the Post section of the Job Description.
